BOTIIDAE
Botiidae is a mainly Southeast Asian family of cypriniform ray-finned fishes. They are more robust than most of their relatives in the Cobitidae and tend to have a more or less arched back, yielding an altogether more fusiform shape. Botiids typically have a pointed snout of intermediate length.
They comprise of the true loaches. They are often found scavenging the gravel and substrate for food. These are mainly community fishes which do best when kept in groups of five or more. They do best with a ph of 6.5 – 7. These fishes need a lot of places where they can hide. Depriving them of hiding spaces can stress them out and result in fading colours.
Examples are: - Clown loach, yoyo loach, Kuhli loach, Bengal loach, etc.
